Kylee & Tegan were that taken when i knocked on their cabin that they opened their curtains and promptly went straight back to sleep !
Our plan was to avoid the cruise excursions and make our own way into town. The plan was working exceedingly well until 5 minutes in when we attempted to cross a busy road opposite the dock area and were caught in the middle as two trams came from opposite directions with what appeared to be about 6 inches in clearance - thankfully one stopped allowing us to scramble across although Tegan reckoned her size would would most likely have allowed her to survive!!!
A quick Wi- If fix with a great Turkish Cuppauchino and we soon found our way into the old city with its magnificent gardens and exquisite buildings.
We worked our way from the Tokapi palace (former home to the Sultans) to the incredible Blue Mosque a huge domed mosque dominating the landscape. Time also allowed wandering through the oldest market in the world the Grand Bazaar before we headed back to the ship.
An unfortunate error in navigation from someone in our family whos name starts with T, turned the return journey into a forced march as we walked 5 + kms arriving back dead on the listed last embarkation time relieved to find that a) the ship was still there and b) there were still 220 persons to come !
With blisters and aching feet we boarded to head straight for the buffet having missed out on lunch.
A pirate theme dominated the nights on board entertainment.
We look forward to some relaxing with tomorrow an at sea day !
