Refreshed from a good overnight sleep and an eat all you can breakfast team Litchy caught the Gatwick express train for a 30 min journey to central frigid `London !
Using the parked sleigh dogs we made our way to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and then on to the London Eye for spectacular views over London and some insight into why their wheel works and our lousy one in Melbourne doesn't .... its too damned cold to cause metal fatigue !
With the queues to the London Dungeons some 3 hours we took a side trip to Notting Hill in search of Julia Roberts and a warm coat for Tegan !
Finding neither we rejoined the LD queue finally making our way through the partly scary, partly funny and partly bloody tedious attraction that tells London's history in piles of blood and gore !
Running late we jumped a London taxi for an across town ride to the hotel Athenaeum winner of the 2012 Best London afternoon tea award and what an afternoon tea it was !
1 and a half hours we rolled out like human barrells having added a good 10,000 calories to our daily intake !
The finger sandwiches were not too bad and even the scones, jams and crumpets only mild contributors to our huge calorie intake - the real killer was the many different cakes many smothered in chocolate, that garnished the cake trolley and the waiters unfortunate words that you could have as many cakes as you liked !
Somehow we made it out of the hotel to take some final shots of London by night before making our way back to Gatwick this time having to walk down an up escalator (to the astonishment of some passengers) after we couldn't find a way to get down to the ground level
All we can say is lucky that they are weighing our baggage on the flight tomorrow and not us !
