Team Litchy battled on like the hardened travelers we are and were soon getting drenched in Venice !
The precarious state of Venice was highlighted upon visiting St Marks square where overnight rain had caused flooding in the square requiring tourists and ourselves to walk along duck boards to avoid getting wet.
Tegan and Kylee broke loose on a mission to visit the remaining shops they'd missed while Monika and I wandered the small streets and were soon in war mode facing hordes of tourists and Italians determined to remove eyes and limbs with their umbrellas in the confined spaces
Swapping to the other side of the Grand Canal and all of a sudden Venice was transformed into a magnificent gem.
Small alleyways , restaurants, beautiful ornate buildings, canals and bridges around every corner and amazingly few people - what a charm it was to walk aimlessly through this area.
The rain hung on through the day determinedly and our only escape was to journey on a series of water buses (vaporettos) around the waterways with the girls now equipped with their many purchases before calling it a day and heading home.
Tomorrow comes one of the highlights of our tour as we embark upon our 7 day Med cruise !
Roll on !
